Kristin Shipler

Kristin Shipler fell in love with yoga in 2001. Starting at 18th & Yoga in Washington, DC, with teacher Kyra Sudofsky, Kristin experienced the synergistic power of mind, body and spirit. She finds the magic of Vinyasa flow a moving meditation, focused on breath, freeing the mind, and moving one’s body to its appropriate edge. As an educator and trainer for almost 20 years, Kristin is humbled by the unique grace inherent in teaching yoga. She strongly believes in building strength, technical skill and flexibility. In addition to asana, Kristin upholds classical yoga’s other seven limbs on and off the mat. She encourages students to do the same. It has been said that Kristin is nurturing, devotional and passionate about sharing the benefits of yoga. Under the wise guidance of Corina Benner and Jill Manning, Kristin jumped at the chance to earn her 250 hour certification with Wake Up Yoga. She extended her repertoire through her recent pregnancy and post-partum yoga experiences. Her favorite activity is getting on the mat with her husband, Kent, and her little one, Micah. While not studying, practicing or teaching yoga, Kristin is a Department Chair of Modern Language and Spanish teacher in Bryn Mawr and is a contractor with the Peace Corps.
