Dates for Free Info Sessions Discussing Wake Up Yoga’s 2018 – 2019 Teacher Training Program Have Been Set!

Please RSVP to Alane@wakeupyoga.com if you plan to attend.
Monday, July 9th at Wake Up Yoga Fairmount
Tuesday, September 4th at Wake Up Yoga Rittenhouse

Each program begins at 7:30pm and runs approximately 90 minutes.

Yoga is a path, practice and discipline of Wakefulness. We utilize the body to access the mind, heart and spirit, seeking to fully integrate all aspects of being. The efforts made on the yoga mat prove to fortify one’s ability to be wide awake in the world: fully present for the unfolding of your rare, precious and amazing life in real time.

This Foundational Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training Program is designed to fortify your own practice while giving you the tools necessary to skillfully and effectively teach powerful and inspiring vinyasa yoga classes. We study more than 50 Asana, approaching them through the lens of Alignment, Actions, Hands-on Adjustments, Transitions and Benefits. You begin teaching right from the beginning, first partnering with classmates, then teaching the teachers and each other individual poses and then sequences of poses.  You get the experience of beginning a class, including teaching a kriya and an opening sequence that you personally craft. The program culminates with you teaching an 80-minute vinyasa yoga class of your own design three times: twice in clinics and once as your final. After each of these teaching experiences you will receive supportive and encouraging feedback that will also sharpen and refine your teaching skills and point you toward personal growth.

In addition to learning to teach poses, you will also study effective teaching methodologies, including: how to use language, vocal patterns, demonstrations, and appropriate touch to effectively communicate the material; cultivating sensitivity; discovering ways to engender trust and overcome resistance, and much more. You will learn the ins-and-outs of being a professional yoga teacher, including strategies for getting work, how to conduct private yoga sessions, and the nuances of corporate yoga. You will also learn how to adapt the practice to beginning students, and pregnant women in all-levels classes.

Beyond the physical components of Yoga Practice, you will also learn the history of yoga, and begin to study Sanskrit, the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, Physical and Subtle/Energetic Anatomy, Ayurveda and Meditation. There are books to read, responses to write, a journal to keep, and lots of classes to take. You will emerge from this transformational program empowered to teach yoga and, perhaps more importantly, centered within yourself. This program helps you connect with your own intuition and inner-knowing so you move through life with integrity, authenticity and greater confidence. Through the practice of yoga you begin to shed limiting beliefs, conscious and unconscious, about who you are and what is or is not possible. Through this program you discover the magic and mystery of being alive, connect with what you deem to be sacred, and learn to live with reverence and devotion. You will make life-long heart-connections with your classmates, and your life will be enormously enriched. In the not-too-distant future you may look back on your experience here and realize this training was the best thing you ever did for yourself, and find that it sincerely made all the difference.
